We have the highest attendance rates of all Manchester schools

Since the academy opened in 2010, we have transformed the aspirations of students and the community by raising expectations. This is especially evident in our attendance rates, which are vastly improved from the legacy of the predecessor school.

This week the Manchester Evening News praised the academy in an article titled "School shoots to the top of the class" - click here to read.

The article notes how The Co-operative Academy of Manchester has recorded the best attendance in Manchester, according to new government data.

We came 61st out of 3,372 schools across the country for pupil attendance, putting it in the top two per cent in the country.

Stephen Brice, Principal, said: “This data is a tribute to the work of our excellent attendance staff, and underlines the fact we have seen a total transformation in the past few years.

“It is inspiring to see how the students and staff work tirelessly every day to make the academy such a fantastic place to learn.

“I am also proud that the academy is now firmly established as an important part of the community and has contributed to the regeneration of the area by raising aspirations for Blackley families.

“The success of the academy is also due in no small measure to the tremendous support we receive from The Co-operative Group which offers numerous opportunities to both students and staff and provides very high calibre governors who offer not only their professional expertise but also exceptional leadership qualities.”
