Enrichment Fair: wide range of after-school clubs on offer
The academy held its first ever Enrichment Fair after school on Wednesday 15 October. The purpose was to showcase the range of after school clubs available to them and to give students the chance to sign up for new clubs.
Academy staff members offer a range of after school activities, including Debate Mate, Coding Club, Community Cohesion Taskforce, Gardening Club and a range of sports clubs that use our state-of-the-art 3G pitch and upgraded Sports Hall. Our student production of Little Shop of Horrors was there to recruit more students to help on stage and behind the scenes. There were also information about some of the outside groups that are based at the academy, including Police Cadets and Scouts.
We are especially proud to support clubs started by the students themselves. After half term a First Aid course and a Magic Club will start running, both of which have been planned by ambitious and proactive Year 11 students.
Mr Wade, a Science teacher who has extra responsibilities for encouraging students to take part in enrichment activities says, “It is fantastic to see the enthusiasm of the students and their willingness to participate in whole academy life, I can only see the enrichment programme going from strength to strength with a wider variety of clubs becoming available as the year progresses. I envision more and more students leading and setting up their own clubs and taking on the responsibility that this brings. It is an exciting time to be a student at the academy”
