MCFC's Alex Williams presents trophy to our tournament winners

The Co-operative Academy of Manchester’s brand new all-weather pitch was christened on Wednesday July 9 2014 with a primary school football tournament run by City in the Community - the part of MCFC which works with the local community.

The tournament was held in conjunction with our open day and parents and carers were invited to see first-hand our state-of-the-art facilities. Our staff and student volunteers put on a range of activities to demonstrate our innovative approaches to learning – including an amazing drama production, the chance to eat insects in Food Technology’s own bush-tucker trials, word games in English, historical artefacts on display, fantastic Science experiments and more.

The winners of the football tournament were Bowker Vale Primary School, who have won our tournament on the last six occasions. They were presented with their trophy by former MCFC goalkeeper Alex Williams, who also talked about the free summer football sessions that will be available to 6-14 year olds on our new pitch – click here for full details. This new partnership with MCFC is a very exciting development for the academy and will really help us make the most of our new 3G pitch.
