Year 7 student takes 2nd place in fire safety competition
Kyle Morrison (Year 7) entered a competition run by Greater Manchester Police and Greater Manchester Fire Service under Operation Treacle to design a poster to raise awareness around bonfire night and the use of fireworks. The competition was open to Year 7 students across Manchester and 11 other schools took part.
Kyle’s poster was chosen as the winner for The Co-operative Academy by the Volunteer Police Cadets and a senior police officer for the North Manchester Division.
Kyle was then invited to attend Greater Manchester Police Headquarters, with his poster, with 11 other winning entries from Manchester schools. In front of senior police officers and senior fire officers all the winners were asked to speak about themselves and their poster, the senior officers then retired to choose a winner. After much deliberation Kyle’s entry came second.
He was presented with a certificate, a trophy, and a voucher. He was really well behaved, spoke beautifully and I am very proud of him and the way he represented the school.
The poster has been put on the screens in the academy and will be circulated in police newsletters. Kyle has even been asked to help us present the “Treacle” assemblies with his poster.
