GCSE Results 2013 - most improved school in Manchester

  • 57% of students achieved 5 A*-C grades including Maths and English - a 16% increase on 2012 results
  • 36% of students gained the highest (A* or A) grades
  • English A*-C grades in particular have rocketed from 47% (2012) to 65% (2013) and 80% of students have made 3 levels of progress in English - higher than the national average of 67%.
This week The Co-operative Academy of Manchester is celebrating its best GCSE results since opening in 2010. An excellent 57% of Year 11 achieved 5 A*-C grades including English and Maths.

Our results are an impressive 16% increase on last year - showing the dedication and determination of both students and staff. Click-Manchester.com has reported this as the biggest increase of all Manchester schools.

This increase is even more impressive when you consider that it goes against the national trend - in England as a whole the percentage of students achieveing C grades and above has fallen (read more about this on the Guardian website).

Students are delighted with their results, which will ensure their continued success in Further Education or training, and eventually in their chosen careers. Below are a few quotes from students as they collected their results on Thursday.

"I am ecstatic about my results.  All the hard work revising and preparing paid off.  I am now excited to start college." – Robbyn San Esteban

"I am very proud of me, I am happy with my results and I know that they help my future.  I want to say a huge ‘Thank You’ to my teachers who have helped me for the whole of Year 11". – Magdalene Malachowska.

"I’m really glad about my results. Thanks to everyone that helped me.  I will miss everyone." – Karolina Mierzejewska

"I am really proud of my results, especially my RE as I got a grade B."  – Astley Willis-Hughes

"I am going to miss this school.  It has been the best move I ever did!" - Robert Evans

A huge congratulations to our school leavers from all staff at the academy. You have done us proud and we look forward to hearing about your future successes.
