The academy’s Post-16 gets international

On the 6th March 2013, the Sixth Form were lucky enough  to host  a group of  26 students aged 18 & 19, as well as 2 teachers from Horsens Gymnasium in Denmark.

The Danish students were able to get a taster in the experience of a ‘Day in the life of a British Sixth Form and Academy Student’. During the day we got chance to ask questions finding out more about each other and how their educational routine is different to ours. It was a great experience to meet new people and find out more about other schools and also common interests such as sports and music.  After visiting the Academy, the students went away happy and got the opportunity to visit Manchester United Football Club’s Stadium and the Trafford Centre.

We found out some interesting things about the students such as, they play a sport called Handball which is similar to our Rugby. Their school days are also longer; unlike us they start at 8.30am  and finish at 5.00pm.

We thoroughly enjoyed meeting these new people and we have been invited over to their school to experience the same thing.
