‘Getting to grips’ with apprenticeships

Last week a group of Year 9 students visited the Etihad stadium, home to Manchester City Football Club, to visit a careers fair with a difference.

The fair included stalls from companies and training providers involved with apprenticeships for young people - and each stall had an interactive element so that students could ‘have a go’.

The Year 9 students on the trip were very well behaved and really enjoyed the trip. They were sawing picture frames, changing tyres, handling insects, styling hair, wiring up boxes, programming computers and more.

The event, which was organised by Manchester City Council’s East Manchester Neighbourhood Regeneration Team was supported by British Gas, FDM Group, Kintish Ltd, Parkinson Building Contractors and others, including local colleges.

Apprenticeships are one of the options available to our students after their exams at 16. For information about apprenticeships visit www.apprenticeships.org.uk or the Academy’s Careers page at www.cam.coop/students/careers-zone.
