Year 10 students ‘on the ball’ when coaching local school children

This week, four Year 10 students at the Co-operative Academy of Manchester completed a six-week programme of football coaching with Year 4 students at the E-ACT Blackley Academy.

The students were excellent role models to the younger pupils and most of them were familiar with the school, having been pupils there themselves before starting at the Co-operative Academy.

During the six weeks they played fun warm-up games, taught ball control techniques, refereed matches and organised penalty shoot-outs with the children who enjoyed themselves immensely.

At the end of the programme, the boys gave the Year 4 students a certificate to celebrate their being part of the programme, and to thank them for helping the boys learn how to coach. This will form part of their GCSE PE course.
