Welcome to Computer Science, ICT & iMedia

Our range of digital subjects provides students with practical skills that are invaluable in an increasingly digital world.

Curriculum overview

  • Year 7: One lesson per week covering elements of ICT, computer science and digital literacy, such as e-safety.
  • Year 8: Two lessons per week covering elements of ICT, computer science and digital literacy, such as e-safety. Whilst in Year 8, students and their families are supported through our Options process. We offer a range of courses for students to take through to Year 11, and students are assisted to find the course that is right for them.
  • In the spring of Year 8, students choose the options subjects they will take from Year 9 to Year 11. Students and their families are guided through this process through taster lessons, assemblies, our options online guide and a special options information evening. We support all students to choose subjects they will enjoy and which they will succeed in, and which will unlock future opportunities.
  • Year 9-11: Students taking an option from our department will have two lessons per week. We offer courses in Computer Science and Creative iMedia. Our current Year 10 and 11 cohort are offered a GCSE ICT option, and current Year 9 students are studying a vocational ICT option.

Qualifications entered in Year 11

GCSE Computer Science (OCR)
GCSE ICT (Edexcel)
Cambridge Nationals in Creative iMedia (OCR)
Certificate in Digital Applications or 'CiDA' (Edexcel)
