Finance and business is a key growth area for the city of Manchester and our aim is to ensure that our students are able to take advantage of the employment opportunities that will arise over the next decade. It is our link with The Co-operative Group that gives our specialism weight and offers our students some unique opportunities.

Curriculum overview

  • In the spring of Year 8, students choose the options subjects they will take from Year 9 to Year 11. Students and their families are guided through this process through taster lessons, assemblies, our options online guide and a special options information evening. We support all students to choose subjects they will enjoy and which they will succeed in, and which will unlock future opportunities.
  • Year 9-11: Students choosing this subject have two lessons per week.

Qualifications entered in Year 11

Enterprise and extra-curricular activities

Extra-curricular activities include an enterprise education that is delivered during Flexible Learning mornings and other activities throughout the year.  Enterprise education provides a great opportunity for young people to apply their learning, develop new leadership skills and really bring ideas to life.

Recently our Year 9 Business Studies students won £100 loan from Manchester Airport's Dragon's Den. Their business idea was 'Warm Music' - hats with headphones. We'll keep you updated with the progress of their business!
